Resource group refers to the group of resource that failover when a failure occurs. 
MCCS is executes failover between nodes in group unit.
Therefore, resource should be created in groups to be failover.

Also, more than one group can be created in one cluster.

Warning

When click ESC key while creating group, group creation process is cancelled.
Therefore, please note not to press ESC key when proceed with group creation wizard.

Adding Resource Group

  1. To add a group, select 'group name → right click → Add Group' from configuration tree.
    Or select 'Edit(E) → Add Group' from main menu.

    If you select to register a group, you will see the initial group registration screen.
    In the initial group registration screen, enter a group name and move the operation target node from the left window to the right window.

    If you select only one operation target node, then you can create a single node group.
    If you select this option, a group is not able to perform failover in case of trouble.

    (If you have selected a single node cluster in the installation program, only one node will be displayed as an available node.)

  3. Click Additional Settings to choose group mode as failover or parallel.

    Failover group failover from active to standby node when failure occurs. 
    Parallel group is configured with the resources that can be executed on more than 2 nodes at the same time. Parallel group does not support failover, but restart the service when it is failed in local node.
  4. Designate a group policy and configure an application.
    For more on how to add each resource, refer to the below link.

    Refer to the descriptions of adding basic application in "7.3 Basic Application Resource."
    Refer to the descriptions of adding Windows service resource in "7.7 Windows Service Resource."

    If there is something wrong with the resource added, you can press the X mark to delete it.
    You can change the starting/terminating order of added resources by pressing the arrow icon.

  5.  Configure the network related resource.

    For more on how to add each resource, refer to the below link.
    Refer to the descriptions of adding network card in “7.1 Network Card Resource."
    Refer to the descriptions of adding a network address in "7.2 Network Address Resource."
    Refer to the descriptions of adding a virtual name in "7.2 Virtual Name Resource."

    Before you can use the IP resource, you must define the network adaptor resource.

  6. Configure the disk related resource.
    For more on how to add each resource, refer to the below link.

    Refer to the descriptions of adding SCSI reservation resource in "7.9 SCSI Reservation Resource."
    Refer to the descriptions of adding mirror disks in "7.6 Mirror Disk Resource."
    Refer to the descriptions of adding VxDG resource in "7.10 VxDG Resource".
    Refer to the descriptions of adding shared disk DR resource in "7.11 Shared Disk DR Resource."

  7. Once you have configured all the resources, it will suggest a dependency recommended by MCCS.
    If you want to change the dependency, select the Dependency tool in the right tab and change it.

  8. After creating the dependency, check the details of the group configuration information and press the 'Finish' button to create a group.

Deleting

To delete group, check the online state of the group first. If there are online group, the resources should be terminated or deleted. 

  1. To delete group, select Select Group - Right Click - Delete Group. 

  2. If one or more than one of the resources is online state, a message shown below will appear.
    When this happens, offline the group first before deleting it.

  3. If the mirror disk is included in the group, a message asking if replication program of mirror disk will be deleted as well.

    if you click "OK" button, replication program is deleted as well. Press "Cancel" button if you do not wish to delete replication program.
